The Decider SKILLS

During 2020, I successfully completed 'The Decider SKILLS' online training course. The Decider skills uses "Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to teach children, young people and adults skills to recognise their own thoughts, feelings and behaviours, allowing them to manage their emotions and their own mental health."

The Decider Skills  have been developed by Michelle Ayres and Carol Vivyan who are Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapists who have worked in mental health for over 35 years.  Their "aim was to reduce impulsivity whilst increasing resilience and confidence by learning thirty-two evidence-based skills based on Cognitive Behaviour  Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)."

"The Decider Skills are being used extensively in Guernsey by adults, young people and children."  The skills are also being used by NHS Cumbria, NHS Highland, NHS Fife, NHS Forth Valley, NHS Lothian, Barnado's, Youth Connections and Mind as well as elsewhere in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
